AP2 (Agent Payments Protocol)
also: AP2 · Agent Payments Protocol
An open protocol for letting AI agents make payments on a user’s behalf, backed by verifiable mandates.
AP2 is an open protocol for agent-initiated payments. Its core primitive is the mandate: a cryptographically signed authorization proving the user allowed the agent to buy something within stated limits, so a merchant can trust an agent’s purchase without the human present. It aims to standardize how agents, merchants and payment networks exchange that proof.
