Privacy Policy.
Last updated: June 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Vibe Engines (“Vibe Engines”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you visit vibeengines.com (the “Site”). Vibe Engines is an independent, one-person workshop publishing open-source software, technical handbooks, and writing. We try to collect as little as possible.
The short version
- There’s no account to create, and we don’t sell your data.
- We don’t set our own advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- A privacy-friendly analytics tool helps us see which content is useful.
- When you email us, we receive what’s in that email — nothing more.
Information we collect
Information you give us
The Site has no sign-up and no contact forms that store data. If you email us — for example via a “Notify me” or “Drop a line” link — we receive your email address and the contents of your message, and keep it only as long as needed to reply.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider and analytics tool may record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, referring page, and the pages you view. This is used in aggregate to keep the Site running and understand what’s useful.
Cookies and local storage
We do not set our own advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our analytics provider (below) may set cookies or use local storage to measure usage. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the Site will still work.
Analytics
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the Site — for example, which sections get read and where people get stuck. Clarity may capture usage data and aggregated session interactions, processed by Microsoft under its own terms. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Third-party services
A few third parties help run the Site and may process limited technical data:
- Firebase Hosting (Google) — serves the Site and keeps standard server logs.
- Google Fonts — fonts load from Google, which may receive your IP address as part of the request.
- Microsoft Clarity — analytics, as described above.
We also link out to third-party sites such as GitHub, Medium, and LinkedIn. Once you follow those links, their privacy policies apply, not ours.
Advertising
The Site does not currently display third-party advertising. If advertising is introduced in the future, it may be served by third-party networks such as Google AdSense. Such networks, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings or via aboutads.info/choices. This section will be updated if and when advertising goes live.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and secure the Site.
- To understand which content is useful and improve it.
- To respond to messages you send us.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the service providers listed above, strictly to run the Site, or where required by law.
Data retention
Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your request. Aggregated analytics data is retained according to the providers’ own retention periods.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example under the GDPR or CCPA — you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because we hold very little personal data, the simplest way to exercise any of these rights is to email us (see Contact below). We’ll respond within a reasonable time.
International visitors
The Site is operated as an independent project and uses providers based in various countries, including the United States. By using the Site, you understand your information may be processed in countries other than your own.
Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for a professional, technical audience and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we handle, but no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
